The American College of Surgeons designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Of the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ listed above, a maximum of 5.0 credits meet the requirements for Self-Assessment.

This activity is designed for the practicing surgeon to gain an understanding of current surgical research and its clinical applications as well as current socio-economic issues. There will be invited guest lecturers, podium presentations, poster displays, and solicited audience discussion. At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe and Demonstrate Key advances in surgical subspecialties that have changed clinical practice.
- Participants will be able to recognize the various challenges and benefits associated with mentoring and innovation initiatives.
- Participants will be able to describe challenges in participating in local quality improvement initiatives.
